Winchmore Creative | Philippa and Tom

Hello! We’re Philippa and Tom.

When it comes to corporate communications, we know our stuff. You might even say we know how to synergise the low-hanging fruit.

Sorry, we couldn’t resist. No more cringey corporate buzzwords, promise.

Our Story

A charming Englishman and a beautiful Aussie girl meet at a party neither of them wanted to go to - sounds like the plot of a Richard Curtis movie, right?

Except it’s true! That’s how we met in London, many years ago now, when Philippa first arrived there with nothing but an ancestry visa and a backpack.

We lived all over the city in the eleven years we spent there together, but our favourite place we lived was a leafy green village in North London called Winchmore Hill. It had fantastic character pubs, expansive parks home to families of squirrels and foxes, and lots of hidden treasures – you just had to know where to look.

We made the move back to Tasmania – Philippa’s home state – in 2018 and took our time to consider what sort of work we wanted to do once we were settled.

We had always wanted to work together and suddenly thought now’s the time! That’s something we love about Tassie too, how you can not only pursue a career you are passionate about but also create a life that you don’t need a holiday from.

Tom’s background is in marketing, PR and design; Philippa’s in corporate communications and copywriting. We realised our skillsets were incredibly complementary, as well as driven by the same values (fortunately, being married and all!) and a strong desire to make a difference in the world.

And so, Winchmore Creative was born - a one-stop shop for all your corporate communications and design needs.

Our Values

  • Excellence

We believe in high standards, professionalism and being resourceful and open-minded. Excellence is not just about being the best at what we do, but about having a great attitude as well. It’s about having done your research, showing up with good intentions and a willingness to try new things.

  • Kindness

We believe you don’t have to be tough and ruthless to get ahead, in life or in business. We love seeing people lead with kindness and compassion. It creates empathy and connection, both of which are key ingredients in crafting messaging that will resonate with your staff, customers and stakeholders.

  • Courage

It takes courage to be yourself in a world that asks you to constantly compare yourself, and your business, to the competition. When you’re told “that’s the way it’s always been done”, it takes courage to respond with “why?”
We are not afraid to ask that question.

Philippa Moore, WInchmore Creative

Philippa Moore

Founder, Communications Director

Comfortable working with clients in any sector, Philippa has an expert ability to turn technical complex information into accessible, engaging content.

In a writing career spanning nearly two decades, Philippa has devised and led editorial projects and content strategies, both freelance and as part of in-house communications teams, in Melbourne, London and now Hobart.

Whether it's a specialist expert audience, or opening up a niche area to a more general audience, Philippa can help you communicate your messages and ideas efficiently, creatively, clearly and with sensitivity.

Philippa has a particular interest and expertise in sustainability and social investment reporting, particularly for the financial and energy sectors. She can also write a financial report that people will actually understand! She has worked for the ANZ Banking Group, the British Medical Journal, Cosmopolitan UK, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EnergyAustralia and the Australian Taxation Office, among others.

Known for her “turbo” efficiency, Philippa is also completing a PhD at UTAS so her research skills, project management prowess and attention-to-detail are, as you might expect, second to none!

Philippa is delighted to be back in Hobart, her hometown, where she enjoys keeping fit, being in nature, cooking, op-shopping and growing vegetables in her tiny inner-city garden.

Fun fact

Philippa has a scarily retentive memory, which makes her indispensable at a pub quiz. She once appeared on the ABC’s quiz show The Einstein Factor where her special subject was the life and work of poet Sylvia Plath. Sadly, it was her lack of knowledge of American space flights of the 1960s that let her down in the end!

Tom Schoon

Founder, Marketing and Design Director

Tom has been working in marketing since his mid-twenties (we won’t tell you how old he is now – but he’s very experienced). His particular strength is in marketing theatre and the arts; he has an unrivalled knowledge of what helps sell a show and gets an audience excited about coming to a venue.

Tom has created and led marketing campaigns for some of the world’s best-known shows including: Grease, Cats, Chicago, Annie, The Sound Of Music, MAMMA MIA!, The Bodyguard, Sunset Boulevard, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Ghost The Musical, Flashdance The Musical, Evita, La Cage Aux Folles and The Book Of Mormon. In Hobart, he has been the marketing brains behind several of 2021’s most successful productions – The Old Man and the Old Moon (Jack Lark Presents) and The Rocky Horror Show (John X Presents).

Animation, graphics, or web – Tom can turn his hand to anything related to design. His skills have been determinedly honed over the best part of three decades. His natural aptitude for technology means he learns the latest software, and which one is best for your messaging, in no time.

Tom is also our in-house PR and media expert. He has over a decade of experience in managing all aspects of media relations, with an innate understanding of how PR can improve your business’ reputation and magnify its profile.

Having happily swapped the bright lights of London’s West End for the fresh clean air of Tasmania, Tom enjoys spending his downtime getting to know his new hometown, particularly all the wonderful beer and wine produced here!

Fun fact

A self-confessed audiophile, Tom is passionate about cinema, music and photography. He is the kind of guy who notices things in films that everyone else misses! He has bought every version of Terminator 2: Judgment Day ever released.
